Remote access and screen sharing

Help installing software may turn into handing over control of your device.

How it works

Screen sharing reveals visible information. Remote control may allow another person to act on the device.

What to check and do

  1. Do not install remote-access software following an unexpected call.
  2. Do not display financial accounts or codes to an unknown person.
  3. If you already granted access, end the connection and contact your provider from another trusted device.

Learning scenario

Learning example: “Install this helper and open your account; I will fix everything.”

Self-check

Your answer stays on this page until it is closed or reloaded. No real passwords, codes or documents are needed. The result is not a security certificate.

Where should you stop?

Important limits

Ending a connection does not prove the device is clean. Technical assistance may be needed.

Primary sources

Learning materials can reduce mistakes but do not guarantee protection from every threat. Not investment advice.
